Through the generosity of individuals, foundations and corporations, we endeavour to provide bullying prevention programs to all Canadian children through the delivery of the WITS Program (WALK AWAY, IGNORE, TALK IT OUT, SEEK HELP) and WITS LEADS Program (LOOK AND LISTEN, EXPLORE POINTS OF VIEW, ACT, DID IT WORK?, SEEK HELP)
The Rock Solid Foundation is a registered charity (#89138 2228 RR0001). The Rock Solid Foundation was started in 1997 by a group of law enforcement officials, Victoria Shamrocks and Canadian Rugby Players. There was a need for violence prevention programs in Victoria and Rock Solid was developed to fill the gap. Originally, police programs were developed for grades 6 to 12 however it became clear that the need for anti-violence education begins at kindergarten.
In 1997, Lampson school police liaison Tom Woods launched the Rock Solid Foundation – a group of local athletes and law enforcement officials with a mission to provide violence prevention programs to children and youth. Woods and the Rock Solid Foundation teamed up with Principal Stevenson, local teachers and counselors and University of Victoria psychology professor Dr. Bonnie Leadbeater and her research team. Together, they pioneered the WITS Primary Program for Kindergarten to Grade 3 students. Since then WITS has received numerous award and endorsements and grown to include programs for older children, WITS LEADS and the French program called DIRE. The WITS Programs have been widely adopted and over three hundred schools are using the WITS Programs in Canada. The WITS website and WITS online training have made the curricular resources freely available and now schools all over the world are using their WITS to promote positive and safe communities.
